Cullen B. Yates 1866 – 1945 Cullen Yates was born in Bryan, OH in 1866. Yates studied with William Merritt Chase and Leonard Ochtman at the National Academy of Design and in Paris, he studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Colarossi Academy, and the Academy Julian. He was known for his landscapes around Shawnee-on-the-Delaware, PA, where he lived, as well as landscapes of Maine and Monhegan Island.
